Lenovo (the maker of my laptop) points me here: but that driver is 3.8 Mbytes, not 40 Kbytes. My experience in the past has been that Lenovo has lost control of the updates and screws them up and has, as a management strategy, stopped updating. In other words, all their updates are very old.

Thank you, Bill, Hi, Sometimes Microsoft gives you Updates for 3rd Party Hardware: Graphics, Network Adaptors, etc. You should only obtain the latest Drivers for them from the actual Hardware Manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor have those latest Drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd Party Hardware Manufacturer to supply them.
Of course I agree, and I try to get drivers from the manufacturer's site, but Lenovo intentionally has old drivers (from 2010) and EgisTec, the device manufacturer, does not supply drivers to end users. I'm very experienced.
My 1st computer was an IMSAI-8080 that I built from kit in 1975 and that ran CP/M. I program in just about every language and I'm equally comfortable on the command line as with a mouse under my palm. Also, I'm an electronics engineer (BSEE, Ohio State Univ.) Microsoft must be getting drivers from the device manufacturers, otherwise Windows Update wouldn't know about the update.
